Although the attacks on New York City and Washington D.C. have once again heightened our country and our world to the dangers associated with firefighting, firefighters continue to die in the line of duty. When you're able please support the families and coworkers of fallen firefighters. Develop a plan for your own organization. Attend celebrations and memorials when you can, and above all be safe.

Most of us are unaware of how to deal with a line of duty death, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation has put together some excellent information.
A comprehensive Resource Guide of line-of-duty death materials for fire departments is available from the Foundation free of charge. This 50-page guide is intended for pre-incident planning, but it contains information on family and fire department support, and resources that may be helpful to you at this time. Today, the California Firefighters Memorial attracts thousands of visitors to its prestigious surroundings in Capitol Park. It has become a sacred place to reflect, honor and remember. On May 22, 2003, California Firefighters Memorial first annual ceremony.
